đź’” From Broken to Balanced: Healing After Divorce
Divorce doesn’t mark the end of your story—it’s the turning point of a new chapter. In this Bent Not Broken episode, I expand on my heartfelt conversation with Dr. JC Doornick, founder of Make Sense Academy, who shared his deeply personal journey through guilt, loss, and renewal after divorce.
JC reminded us that divorce creates ripples—emotional, mental, and even physical. But healing begins when we stop trying to fix everything for everyone else and start nurturing ourselves. Guilt often lingers long after the papers are signed, yet much of it isn’t ours to hold. True healing starts when we name that guilt, release it, and extend compassion toward our pain.
As JC beautifully shared, “On a healthy body rests a healthy mind.” Healing isn’t only emotional—it’s physical. Drinking more water, taking a walk, or breathing deeply are simple acts that tell your soul, I am worth taking care of.
You are also the author of your next chapter. The story you tell yourself shapes your recovery, so begin rewriting it with love and truth. Ask yourself: What lesson did my divorce teach me? How can I use that lesson to move forward?
And perhaps the most powerful reminder from JC—“If you can’t learn how to have a good day on a bad day, you’re going to have a bad life.”
Divorce doesn’t define you—it refines you. You are not broken. You are bent—flexible, resilient, and ready to rise again.
