Healing After Divorce: Breathwork, Boundaries, and Finding Freedom in Midlife
There comes a moment in many women’s lives—often after divorce, illness, or burnout—when the question quietly surfaces: Is this really it?
In a recent episode of Bent Not Broken, I sat down with Karen Theimer, a Freedom Coach and wellness expert with nearly 20 years of experience, to explore what happens when life delivers multiple wake-up calls—and how those moments can become powerful turning points.
Karen’s journey includes divorce, a cancer diagnosis, deep burnout, and a season of feeling completely stuck. Like so many women, she knew there had to be more to life, but didn’t yet know how to access it. Through holistic wellness, breathwork, and deep inner healing, she began reconnecting her mind, body, and spirit—ultimately redefining what freedom means in midlife.
One of the most powerful themes from our conversation was the role of story. The stories we tell ourselves—about aging, worth, confidence, and “it being too late”—often aren’t even ours. They’re shaped by past experiences, generational beliefs, people-pleasing, and fear of judgment. Left unchallenged, those stories quietly keep us playing small.
Karen shared how breathwork became a key tool in her healing process, helping regulate her nervous system, calm anxiety, and reconnect with her body after years of disconnection. We also talked about boundaries, guilt, and why guilt is one of the biggest energy drains for women—especially those who’ve spent years putting everyone else first.
This episode is a reminder that healing isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about coming back to who you’ve always been—with more wisdom, clarity, and self-compassion.
If you’re navigating life after divorce, starting over after a major transition, or simply feeling called to something more, this conversation offers both permission and practical insight: it’s not too late to choose yourself.
Your next chapter doesn’t require perfection—just honesty, courage, and the willingness to breathe, pause, and listen inward.
